Ninaren is the reigning Queen of Aglarond and the Yuirwood. Her coronation took place on 30 Kythorn 1381 DR, though she was retroactively crowned as of the death of predecessor Regent-King Aleric Argentsworn on 23 Kythorn, and had a more formal and public coronation ceremony on 22 Flamerule 1381.

Reign

As Crown Princess of the Ten Tribes

During the crisis preceding the War of the Fireflies, Ninaren was removed from her studies at the Silverhand Institute to unite the feuding clans and be named Princess of the Ten Tribes. On 6 Eleint 1380, Ninaren was crowned by the Conclave of Tribes.

As Queen of Aglarond

King Aleric's final decree, prior to deploying himself to the Watchwall in sole defense of Aglarond to thwart an invasion by Thayan Emperor Aznar Thrul, was that "the true Sovereign of Aglarond shall be the one who keeps the peace". The nobility of the realm did not consider this a clear declaration of his successor, and was thrown into chaos as dozens of dukes and counts presented themselves as the worthiest candidate for King.

The informal council that effectively ruled during the interregnum put forth Princess Ninaren, then "Crown Princess" of the Ten-Tribes, as the worthiest successor, due to her proven lineage as a descendant of King Brindor I, and her success in uniting the long-warring tribes of the Yuirwood. The nobles balked at such an outrageous idea, decrying her lack of experience, her overabundance of education, and, in some cases, her elven heritage.

While persuasive arguments were made by the interregnum council, the most persuasive was a speech by Melordianix the song dragon, which reportedly moved the entire court to tears. Ultimately, the nobility voted to crown Ninaren as the first half-elven Queen of Aglarond and the Yuirwood since Ilione's reign ended in 1320 DR.
